Sweetgrass baskets

this gal was busy making sweetgrass baskets on the Boon plantation in the Charlotte N.C area. We enjoyed touring the plantation and learning about life on the plantation. It was indeed a bad deal for the slaves. the owners who raised rice made lots of money. 139,000 acres of land was cleared, but it took 50 yrs, 5 generations of slaves to accomplish this task.
