Yellow-crowned night heron

Greetings from sunny and very hot Florida!

Am a bit behind with blipping and the memory capacity on our netbook is not brilliant so I will only be blipping intermittently.  We are spending the first five days down here on the island of Sanibel, SW Florida, with my old boss and his lovely new wife.  Walking down to the beach on our first day we spotted this yellow-crowned night heron probably sitting on a nest.  Couldn't get too close 'cos of alligators - see sign in extra!.  Other extras: a lovely flower I don't know the name of, the Gulf of Mexico beckoning us to go for a swim and a pelican flying overhead.
