Castle Hill, Filleigh

A few miles to the east of Barnstaple in North Devon stands this extraordinary mansion. On the final day of the heatwave, Mum and I explored some of the 50 acres of gardens, woodland and parkland. The castle on the hill above is a sham, built for theatrical effect, and it even has a ring of cannons!
