New Helmet

CyclopsJnr's bike helmet (or "bike helmet hat" to him) has had a pretty tough life.  A couple of major "over the handlebars" incidents have broken some little bits off the outer shell, destroyed the visor, and combined with general rough usage it looks a bit worse for wear.

Today his new helmet arrived, and he loves it.  It is now "New shiny bike helmet hat".  

CyclopsJnr went to Victoria Park this afternoon, and had a whale of a time playing with lots of different kids both older and younger.  As a result his father got chatting with a selection of parents too!  As we left, a boy he as met there a few times before called his name and he was delighted to go over and say hello, and goodbye.  He has his own social life now, even outside the childminders.

He was a very good boy, and was kind to a couple of other children who hurt themselves or got upset.  He goes over and says "Hello boy, you OK?" and in once case administered a cuddle until a qualified parent arrived to take over.  

Later we went to the shop and CyclopsJnr chose is own dinner.  He told me he wanted "peas, sweetcorn and broccoli".  I asked if he'd like anything else as well, and he consented that I could add in some chicken nuggets and chips.  "I not need loads daddy" he said of the chips, but when I was pouring out the peas he kept saying "more peas please daddy".  He's now eaten a ludicrous amount - most of it vegetables.  I'm sure it won't last, but right now I think he has by far the healthiest diet of any of us!
