I thought the cat was showing signs of his age today after a fairly unpleasant incident involving a pile of my clothes. It was only when I took the rancid items to the washing machine that I realised one of the children had locked his catflap and therefore deprived him of his toileting facilities for who knows how long. I still wasn't thrilled but was more willing to forgive.
