Under the naviduct

Bike ride along the dijk that leads to Lelystad on the other side of the Ijsselmeer. Not that we went the entire 30 odd km.

I was warned and not disappointed with the sheer number of bugs flying into our eyes, ears, nose and mouth. I'm sure there were a few I had to pick out of my teeth once we got home.

This photo is looking along the wild flowers to the naviduct, a channel the boats can travel through from one side of the lake to the other. Not quite as simple as that though because the 2 sides have differing water levels so boats need through a gate that closes behind them, the water level then rises or lowers to match the other side so that they can go out the other gate to the other side.
