wild waiting

About 3 weeks ago this lily stem was broken from the big bunch. I brought it inside and put it in water in an empty gin bottle. The flower buds were very tight and I didn't think it'd flower indoors. I've been keeping an eye on it as the leaves slowly died off and was really surprised this morning when it had opened up into this delightful golden lily. The flower isn't very big but it's very beautiful. Surprised too as the big bunch outside are a deep red!

So wildly happy to see it on my kitchen windowsill.
