Apple Blossom in September?

Is it me? or rather is it just my garden and fruit trees that have lost the plot? My Bramley apple tree has fruit ready to harvest and windfalls falling - but I see that there are two or three branches with buds and flowers on as well.....what is going on? The bees in the garden are happy as they are here buzzing about, collecting what little pollen must be available - but me - i am just totally confused.....
