Reflections on a very hot day
It is 93 degrees outside, breaking the record high for this day in Seattle by 5 degrees. Sitting here in my apartment, with ceiling fans blowing in most rooms (alas, not the kitchen!), I'm actually not feeling too uncomfortable. The sun has finally moved westward (I face east), so it's not blasting heat into my rooms. I could go down to sit in the air-conditioned lobby of my building, but I'm afraid that the heat here would seem much worse after that. Neither I nor my car are going out today.
My absence from Blip lately is because I've been so preoccupied with my health issues that I don't have much energy to look outside myself. I'm hoping to be able to improve on that in future.
Yesterday was my volunteer stint at the Library, where I've been working with the same man from Vietnam I mentioned in an earlier blip. We have a lovely time - he is reading aloud from a young adult novel, and I correct his pronunciation and translate English words he hasn't come across before; we laugh a lot. Fortunately his wife, whose English is very poor, has been able to have a tutor of her own for the whole period, so I no longer have to split my time between them.
This is a shot of a beautiful iris in Endless Weekend's garden, taken with my new camera. I love irises, and am happy to share this one with you. The extra is the clump of irises where this one grows.
