We are starting to harvest our tomatoes. As we speak, I can hear the food dryer working its magic on the first load of juicy slices; in the winter I will add them to soups and sauces and pasta. Tomorrow I hope to can a few quarts and see if there's enough left over to make sauce. This is a terrific year for tomatoes, after a series of poor harvests in the recent past.
