Finest Kind!
This photo is a total cheat in Blip terms, and I apologise but you'll see why it's important. It was taken yesterday in Thomaston, Maine.
Cousins Robert and Susan are on holiday in New England and were driving up to Bar Harbor through Thomaston (pop 2,781) - a delightful little harbour town on the St George River, in much earlier times a busy centre for seagoing boats. I mentioned to Susan that I had worked at the Federated Church in Thomaston, and we had lived in the Parsonage next door for three months in 1977.
Yesterday, she stopped to take some photos. She was having trouble identifying the Parsonage (they had changed the street numbers), when round the corner walked a gentleman celebrating his 84th birthday. Hank Carey, retired High School Principal, is a wonderful man and was a wonderful friend. His wife, Lucy, is a friend on Facebook. Hank is what they refer to in Maine as "finest kind". If there was one person in the whole of the US I would have liked the cousins to meet this was him! What a happy coincidence.
