Edgy design

This building is opposite my old primary school. For years I looked at it and wondered why would anybody build a wall and put windows and a door on it? Where is there to go? Is it some kind of illusion?

When I realised the truth I was amazed I had never noticed before and disappointed that it was an actual building.
