I enjoy it like a cicada
Making good use of a "pupil free day", and with an eye to us all heading off in different directions very soon, we had a family day in Melbourne.
We arrived in time for lunch, so retired to ther Canteen in the City Library. The menu is very limited, the surroundngs are distinctly grungy, but the food! It is affordable and delicious! I think Melbourne specialises in hidden gem restaurants and cafes.
We then headed to the National Gallery of Victoria to enjoy the Van Gogh exhibition. I had young Master A by my side, and his and his siblings' observations and interpretation of the paintings lifted the whole afternoon for me.
It's funny to see how much the "no photography" rule has been relaxed. So much so that they recommend hashtags to use when posting the photo.
Great exhibition despite being at at least 3 deep around each painting.
It wad interesting how few of the travelling collection were not signed. It is such a famous signature too.
