On the Road
Today was the day of a semi-long-awaited bike ride with friends out to Newmarket through the wilds of Swaffham and other parts of the Cambridgeshire and Suffolk countryside. There was a few of us in the group, including a new Blip member - welcome to owenf - Mark, Fee and Ellie - our very own Bradley Wiggins!
Meeting up at the exotic location of McDonalds on Newmarket Road in Cambridge we headed out around midday under grey cloud and with a rather nice wind at our back (of course, we'd have to come back through it later!). Turns out the cloud wasn't a sign of things to come as the sun came out for most of the afternoon and we had a great lunch in Newmarket when we got there.
The ride itself was lots of fun with a few moments of hilarity - my own contribution involving bouncing off a parked car in this style: "nice house... nice church...CAR!" - never take your eyes off the road! Ellie had her road bike so we got to see the advantage of having one as she rarely had to peddle for some stretches - still it did lead us all to trying hard to catch up and that was some good exercise!
Altogether I cycled just under 30 miles with everyone else getting a couple of miles further along (and one person, who shall remain nameless, catching the train back from Newmarket - but a busted knee is a decent excuse and one I have used myself before!) and something I'd like to do again.
Last thing to mention, this is sooc apart from taking the colour out - usually I have the small camera set to do that automatically but it wasn't today!

And here's Owen's Blip for the day, taken during a rest stop in Swaffham Prior (shortly after the incident with a car... which I will mention was parked...)
