ANOTHER BEAUTIFUL CLEMATIS

I have had a great morning cleaning in the kitchen - which may not seem great to you - but since my knee issues, I have had problems doing housework (well that's my excuse!)  All well and good, you may say, but it does need to be done sometimes!  This morning was the turn of the kitchen and it’s been given a good going over.

Of course, Mr. HCB was out in the garden because it is now quite a lot cooler, in fact, the wind has sprung up again and it felt quite chilly when I went out to look for a flower for today’s Flower Friday challenge.

Sadly, the very hot weather has played havoc with many of the flowers in our garden and now the wind has battered many of them over, but this beautiful clematis is sheltered by our boundary wall.  We bought "Margaret Hunt" at the same time as we bought the one I blipped on Wednesday and although it doesn’t have quite as many blooms as "Blue Angel", which now has 34, it is doing very well and looking good next to the passion flower.  You’d never guess that mauves and purples are my favourite colour, would you?

According to the “blurb” on the label, “The charming dusky mauve-pink flowers have a deeper half-bar when first open. She pales to a delicate pearly-pink as her blooms mature” with the added bonus that it flowers throughout the summer into early autumn.

The perfume from the roses, the honeysuckle and the pinks was lovely as I wandered round and with all this wind, the washing is blowing well on the line and probably won’t even need ironing - so every cloud has a silver lining!

“The fragrance of flowers
spreads only in the direction of the wind,
but the goodness of a person
               spreads in all directions.”
