A day in London

We met our South African friends Helen and David in London today. They are staying in Tunbridge wells for a few weeks.
It was an exceedingly hot day.
We took the train to Waterloo and then walked across Hungerford Bridge because Normous wanted to see the progress of the development of Shell Centre. He worked in She'll Centre for more than twenty years, moving in when it was first built. The views from the bridge are spectacular.
We met Helen and David in a cafe in Covent Garden. It was good to sit at a pavement table, people watching. A huge variety of visitors of all nationalities, and some very strange articles of attire.
We then went to the matinee performance of "Kinky Boots", a lively and energetic musical which is based on a true story, although I can't imagine real life being anything like this!
Next on the agenda was a carvery meal at the Strand Palace Hotel, another good meal.
It was still hot when we came out into the street. We said our goodbyes to Helen and David and we walked back across Waterloo Bridge with its lovely views of London, my blip.
Very hot on the train, but I was sat next to a sociable lady who was handing round a box of grapes, very refreshing.
We were home by 8.30, what a lot we fitted into our day.
