Broody

Not me (thanks heavens) my chicken Sooty.

She has made a nest at the back of a flower bed against the wall, she has no eggs as I steal them. I put her back in the hen hut at night but she spends all day sitting in here. Today she sat through torrential rain, thunder and lightening. 

Hens don't lay when they go broody, she is hardly eating or drinking but I throw her off a couple of times a day so that she has a chance to eat. They go into a kind of hypnotic trance. Some peck if you go near them but luckily Sooty does not.

She is a little young to be broody as she is hardly a year old herself. 

A day at the computer trying to do paperwork and only one run out with the taxi tonight so I have a night off
