Doggy Paddle
We've had a very relaxing day today, but it's been so hot, we couldn't do much else! We did take the three dogs down to the beach though this morning, and I let Bobbie and Coco off their leads - Coco is used to being 'off lead', although she turns into a different dog when she's with the boys and barks at every other dog, it must be the pack mentality.
When we got down to the sea Coco sat down and wouldn't move, she was actually backing up the beach, so I don't think she likes the water. Bobbie was a really good boy and enjoyed playing with the other dogs, including a very big hairy chap called Wilfred. The only problem was that he wouldn't stop barking, but only because he wanted to play.
This afternoon we've done nothing! It's been very relaxing, just chilling in the garden and the pool and had a BBQ lunch. We saw two cyclists pushing their bikes through the field, and they asked us for directions. They'd cycled from Kent to London and then took part in the London to Brighton bike ride, got their medals and then were heading back home to Kent, but got a little lost! We gave them directions across the fields to Lewes, offered them the use of our toilet (which they declined) and they went on their way. They'd cycled 105 miles by the time they'd got to us which was some going in this heat!
Tonight we've had a visit from JinglyJan and her lovely hubby Mark. They were at a Gilbert and Sullivan concert in Rottingdean where some of Mark's friends were singing and they invited us along. As we weren't sure of our plans, we invited them round for a drink afterwards and spent a lovely couple of ours in the garden with them.
We had the thermometer in the shade today and it reached just over 30 degrees, which isn't back at the coast. It's now nearly 10pm and we're still in the garden, but starting to feel a little chilly as it's dropped to 20 degrees!
Elif and Seyran have just arrived back into Newhaven so are on their way to pick up Coco so I'd better say goodbye for now. Hope all you dad's out there have had a lovely father's day!
