Father's Day.
It seems fitting that my Father's Day card should be a banjo playing bear, given that this day honouring male parents everywhere is a modern affectation from the U.S., where they have bears (and banjos).
The proper Father's Day is in March, usually St. Joseph's Day, the 19th. The US version was only signed into law by tricky Dicky Nixon in 1972.
Anyhow, it's nice to have a special day to think of our Dads, the men who moulded us and turned us into, hopefully, good fathers. But, I think of Maurice every day, I don't need a special day, I would love to be able to go back in time and ask him questions I have only thought of since he left. I'd like to be able to record his voice, saying his pithy sagacities or maybe cursing another terrible season for Yorkshire or Leeds United.
