Voyage of a Beagle & Lab

Sunflower

The only sun to be found around here today is from the beautiful flowers D gave me for our anniversary, unfortunately for poor Coco they have served as a reminder that we were growing sunflowers until she destroyed them! Coco is not in the good books! Damp, drizzly, gray morning and I still bounced out of bed, pulled on wet weather dog walking clothes and took her out and how does she repay me - after a lovely walk, energetic play with some friends she steals a ball! This is becoming a bit of a habit, to the point I don't let her of the lead if there is a ball about - ball stolen, she runs away and proceeds to pull it apart. I try to get her to bring it back, other dog walkers try to help, even some of the dogs join in, but for a small beagle she is unbelievably fast and nippy and can easily out manoeuvre even the fastest and most determined of the other dogs! Chaos rains as 3 dogs and 3 people chase around the park. Eventually the other dogs are captured but Coco is still on the loose - bring out the big guns, I can usually get her to drop the ball for a meaty chew but she manges to take half a sausage from me without dropping the ball. Eventually she gives up the ball, can't really call it a ball at this point, more like a scrap of rubber. I've typed up the "Free to a Good Home" sign and when I take her out later I may just tie her to the park gate and leave her there!
