Red-Necked Phalarope

Day two of our holiday, another good day, even though the light was challenging in the morning. These little birds came really close when we were sat on the edge of their pool. I really liked the water coming off her foot as she took off.

They are unusual in that the females are bigger and brighter than the males who have the task of incubating the eggs and rearing the chicks while the females start their winter migration to tropical seas.

Hope you had a good day.
