7.15am, Manchester city centre.
When I started working in Leeds two years ago, I made my way through Manchester city centre every morning, and was initially shocked and dismayed by the number of homeless sleepers, fast asleep at an early hour.
This doesn't seem to have changed too much; in fact, as you can see here, people are sleeping rough on main roads - in this case, just by a bus stop.
The new Mayor of Greater Manchester has made homelessness one of his key priorities. Let's hope so. I don't have any answers.
Many people who pass through Manchester as early as I do are no longer shocked by seeing this, more a case of resigned sadness at what we see so often.
