Back-Lit Poppy

On my way early this morning to buy a newspaper, the sun's rising rays caught this poppy, growing on a patch of waste land, as if a spotlight had picked it out for special treatment.

Today has been a proper summer's day - the kind we think we remember from our childhood.

The extra is a cheeky squirrel (in Beckett's Park, Northampton) at lunchtime.
