Villa Balbianello

One of the Jewels in the Crown of Lake Como, and certainly of Lenno is the Villa Balbianello. We have visited the gardens several times in the past, but this was the first time we have visited the interior of the Villa itself.

It is about a 30 minute walk from the apartment, downhill to the Lake, and then uphill along the peninsular to the Villa itself. The last owner of the Villa was a famous Italian explorer Guido Monzino. In his will he left the Villa to the Italian National Trust together with a trust fund to pay for the upkeep of the Villa.

The Villa is maintained as it was at the time of his death in 1988 and is well worth a visit. We should not have waited so long to visit.
