Gemuetlich

Leo, the best German translation machine from the Techn. University Munich translates this as "cosy, comfortable, homely, jovial (Christian I could have titled this Blip differently!), placid, snug & unhurried. Well it was all of these and more and I hope "Gemuetlich" never falls victim of being hijacked as befell "Gay" which in my youth was used for happy, jolly (oooh nearly Christian) & carefree.
The Little Creek Gang #1+ #2 {hitting the link will explain "jolly" comments above} came over for dinner with Christian's parents, a wonderfully fit, interesting & inspiring couple. Dad has been all over the world with the RAF & spent many years here in Bavaria connected with the aerospace industry but now retired. He was luckily too young to be in service during WWII but today being Battle of Britain Day it was a bit special. It's understandably difficult for Germans to not think we Brits still have something against them. The commemoration of this day is to honour especially "the few" but also all victims of the two weeks in September 1940. It doesn't celebrate the victory against the individual pilots but the Nazi regime. Don't forget the German's only have the Volkstrauertag commemorating ALL who died in armed conflicts or as the victims of violent oppression. Enough of this.
A lovely evening even if it bored both dogs to sleep or perhaps they didn't understand the spoken Dinglish (3 Brits, 3 Germans).
