Last Poppy standing
The recent wet and windy days have almost flattened the peony roses and large oriental poppies in Maxwell Park.
There are no stakes or plant supports in the border and as both flowers have large heads and slender stems they don't stand a chance when it's wet and windy.
I watched a mallard with her nine ducklings as they made their way around the pond. Mum paddled gracefully but those nine youngsters were 'faster than a speeding bullet' and although I tried to photograph them they were just too quick for me!
