Sir John Betjeman at St Pancras station

I love train stations and journeys and so was glad l had to go down to the grandfather of them all, St Pancras station, this morning. Whilst there l stopped to admire this wonderful statue of Sir John Betjeman.
The script on the slate upon which he stands is from his poem Cornish Cliffs and reads:

In the shadowless unclouded glare
Deep blue above us fades to whiteness where
A misty sealine meets the wash of air

(I thought of yesterday when l was with friends on cliffs edge looking out across the English Channel and there was indeed a misty sealine and a whiteness to the sea caused by the chalk cliffs)

The statue is by Paul Jennings and commemorates JB, as in the 60s he started the campaign to save St Pancras when it was in danger of being ripped down and replaced with a concrete box as happened to Euston station.
