Rescued
Seagull Watch has begun and already there has been drama.
A pair of lesser black-backed gulls have been nesting between the chimney pots that are between us and our neighbour. High up on a Victorian terrace. The first hatched on Monday and although it fell off the chimney stack, it made it safely onto the flat(ish) roof over the stairway access.
The second one hatched on Wednesday but wasn't so lucky. It tumbled all the way dwn to the garden where it was fortunately spotted by a neighbour who fended off a cat whiled I boxed the chick. It was then taken up into our attic and popped out the attic window to join its sibling.
At lunchtime today, the parents coaxed both chicks along the gutter onto the other flat(ish) roof above our kitchen. That is where they raised last year's brood.
Today's blip shows both chicks in front of a parent. The nearer one is the one who fell. This is the view through my livingroom window.
For those of you still puzzled by my blip yesterday, the whole view is in today's 'extra'. It was a greylag goose snoozing at Kinghorn Loch.
