Avocet and chick

Had an evening walk with a warden down at Gibraltar Point tonight. As the light was fading we sat in a hide and saw 3 spoonbills, several avocet chicks and black-headed gull chicks. There were numerous linnets around and my extra is of a linnet - a lovely little bird.
Terrible news from London today. What an awful tragedy - and a tragedy that should not happen in the 21st. century. I felt lucky to be in such  a tranquil place when many will have lost family members and everything they owned in such a vicious fire.
