The Railway Child

We took the Flumlet for a trip on the Borders Railway, but just a short one, from Shawfair as far as Stow, where we knew there was a playpark. Despite a fair forecast, it was raining when we arrived and we were afraid the trip would be a washout; it didn't persist but the playpark equipment was wet.
Top left:- Early into the journey, with a drink.
Bottom left:- On our way to the station the eagle-eyed Flumlet spotted a ladybird walking across a manhole cover.
Bottom right:- Between the Stow station and the playpark we passed two hens walking up the street, this is the fancy one.
Centre:- In the crow's nest (this took a lot of help from the Grandparents both up it and down again); the Wendy House in the background was nice and dry to sit for our picnic (he only ate a little, though).
Top right:- On our way home, another snack.

For a first experience of a train he was very well-behaved and the timing was about right for him - and for us.
