Pink Hair and Four Blue Drinks

We had just seen The Summer of Love exhibit at the DeYoung Museum, celebrating all things sixties, and were taking a break near the museum cafe. I went wild when I saw these women across the lawn. The drink is called the Flower Child: blue curacao and vodka lemonade.

The exhibit was lost on me; my general feeling about the sixties is that it was bad enough the first time around. It wasn't my music or my art. I was overwhelmed just trying to stay alive. In the lobby you could buy a tie-dye Tshirt, and the food in the restaurant had names like Magic Mushroom Risotto and Far Out Falafel. Our real target today was Revelations: Art From the American South, which did not disappoint. A fine collection of quilts, paintings and sculpture by contemporary African American artists.
