African violet
This plant was propagated from a leaf cutting from a blue and white pinwheel, or 'chimera', violet, which sported from a plain blue original. The chimera violet won't come true from a standard leaf cutting - almost all of the ones I've taken have this white with blue centres/edges colouration, rather than the white with a blue stripe of the chimera. Others have hardly any blue at all. I managed to get a flower stem cutting from the chimera to take last year, and am still waiting for it to flower - this summer I hope. It's a very slow method of propagation, but should turn out to be true to the parent. If so, it'll be only the second one I've managed to get, in spite of several attempts. More anon.
