A gem of a geum

A busy ol day today........weather has been brighter than forecast, but very windy as the day has gone on.

This morning we went a walk and got the papers, then back home, got stuck in to the various chores. Striped the bed, laundry on.....hub cut the front lawn. Curtains in the bedroom down, sigh, dry clean only! Managed to get our 4.5 tog quilt into the washing machine, so thats now nicely refreshed.

Ironing board up, replacement curtains ironed, clean bedding re-ironed, how come the quilt covers are always too creased to put on the bed, even though they were ironed after they were washed....so infuriating!

Then a quick trip out in the car to drop off a couple of things of Emilys to her dads, together with his birthday card. Emily saw me pull up and opened the door surprised to see me....I got a hug :-)

Home again, a quick lunch of ham and cheese toasties, simple but tasty :-)

Feather duster to clean along curtain poles, put new curtains up. Made up the bed with the clean bedding.....always looks nice when first done, and smells so fresh :-)

Then I joined hub in the back garden.....he was beavering away as usual. I planted up three wild plants we brought back from the Cotswolds, deadheaded all the rhoddis tied in some of the roses around the archway. Then watered all baskets and containers. I cut back our Choiysa, it has got too big over the last couple of years......looks a bit bare just now, but it will soon recover. I took a few shots in the garden, in between other things and thought id share this shot of my latest geum. I cant remember its actual name, Apricot something or other.....the most pretty one I have :-) We called it a day just after 6.

Made chicken smoked bacon and fresh pineapple skewers on the griddle for dinner, with skinny fries with hot paprika seasoning, coleslaw, and fresh asparagus ........my version of what we had at the Brazilian restaurant Cabana.....really lovely, and mine wasnt bad either ;-)

Hub has got our suitcases down from the loft, we are off in a couple of days :-) Think we are ready for a break.........and I think we will sleep well tonight too!!
