"I heard a cat in the square!" Since his massive and bloody scrap with the neighbour's new cat a couple of months ago, I am happy to say that Mystère has become more circumspect. Instead of rushing outside to do battle immediately, he now surveys the scene from the windowsill first (giving me time to slam the catflap shut). And the last time I saw them having a confrontation, Mystère was trying to sidle away discreetly -- most unusual.

Another very hot day, much of it spent in the garden. S has now bought an inflatable children's paddling pool and filled it with (filtered) water from the well, so when the heat gets unbearable, you can wallow in it like a hippo in a waterhole -- a great idea!
