Open Gardens in Armathwaite
 
Three lovely gardens, all very different and each a delight to walk round.
 
This guy had just about the most amazing garden I have ever seen. And much of it was wild - my sort of garden. A huge area of land that had been a stud farm was added to what was quite a modest plot and the 5 acres have been lovingly turned into a delightful garden to wander through. One discovers different parts round every corner – a garden full of colour and surprises. But the biggest surprise of all is when you follow a footpath, by a stream with beautiful little bridges, through woodland, for a long, long way, and end up at the Settle Carlisle Railway. What a place!
 
He enthusiastically, and quite proudly, told the story of the garden whilst he sold plants – lots of them. Very happy to have his photo taken. A great guy.
