Tightly Curled
The wind and rain returned this afternoon. Right on time to wreck the peonies, which are just beginning to open. They seldom last more than a couple of days in the garden. My plan this year is to cut some and bring them into the house where we'll be able to enjoy them for a bit longer.
I don't know which variety this is - it gets much paler as it opens and has a very powerful perfume. It was growing here when we came, so it is quite old but seems to survive quite well on neglect.
I got to it just as the rain was starting, a few drops had already landed, as you can see.
