Search and recovery

I love Bethells Beach. It's wild and untamed. I can spend hours just sitting there, watching the waves and wondering at their power.

I love to swim but I've never been into the sea (deeper than my knees) at Bethells. It's just too much - more than a mere human could ever hope to cope with.

Three people have been lost to the sea at Bethells in recent days. The helicopter is searching for the body of a young rugby league player. Lots of people have gathered on the beach to pay their respects.

It was a sombre walk tonight.
