Bivalve
Some fossils are simply imprints of what was there. Other fossils remain because the organism was replaced piece by piece with stone. This is an example of the latter. This bivalve shell was fossilised in a way which has produced a stone "shell " from the Cretaceous period (64 to 136 million years ago). (With a 20 pence coin for scale)
