2017 Sunday -- Our SoCal Neighborhood

Walking with the three pups in our 'hood as this day is leaning toward night. I rarely take photos of this neighborhood. My thoughts this evening are "how lovely this is."

We won't be residing in this neighborhood for much longer . . . we may have a few more months or even a year, but we're planning to soon sell our big ol house and move into our former home that has been a rental for years.

We never intended to own two rental houses, but we do. In 1992 we purchased a cute little house for our daughter and son-in-law, so they or he could go to school. Then two years later we purchased our big home so we could all live together. Everyone we knew said, "That won't work!"

They moved out of the little house, and we moved out of a home we'd lived in for 28 years -- a home we had purchased from my parents, who had bought it brand new in 1964. Then both of those homes became rentals because the real estate market was not good for selling at that moment in 1994.

Unfortunately, everyone was right and I was wrong. I really thought we could all live together. So we all lived together for 12 months. It was our daughter who did not like the situation. We did well with our son-in-law, and our two grandchildren we're so young that they don't even remember living there. It was fun being with the two grands. After a year the kids moved to a place of their own and our son-in-law never returned to college. Thankfully he was skilled enough, intelligent enough, and gifted with people skills enough to do very well in the construction industry. He is currently a vice president over plumbing and electrical of a construction company.

Now, it makes financial sense to sell the big house and to move to our former home (even though it needs lots of TLC). Ultimately, we plan to move to our little retirement home on California's Central Coast.

Today, though, I am just thankful and grateful for the wonderful years we've had here. I'm also excited about the upcoming journey or chapter of moving forward and into the future.

Those are some of my Sunday thoughts as I stroll through this beautiful, well established neighborhood.
