Gabions

This is a detail of the redevelopment of the harbourside in Whitstable, Kent. The contrast of stone, metal and wood is quite striking. Whitstable seems to be becoming a fashionable holiday destination, presumably partly due to the ease of getting there from London, and the fame of its oysters. The number of gift and clothes shops seems to suggest that it supports a busy tourist trade.
