Tall Scots pine trees at Loch Maree
Our main activity today was a four and a half hour hill walk in the Ben Eighe National Nature Reserve. We started next to Loch Maree and climbed to a high point of 550m. The route took us through an ancient pine forest, as blipped. At the top we had a picnic of mini pork pies and a banana. It was very steep in places and I was grateful to have remembered to take my walking poles, both for the way up and the way down.
Afterwards we continued to take advantage of the wonderful weather with a walk on the beach at Big Sand. My extra is a view from near the beach, looking back towards Gairloch and the mountains of Torridon.
Exercise today: walking - 6.5k hill walk, walk on beach, walk to inn for supper (18,885 steps).
