Thirlmere

A huge amount of water came down in the county in the last 48 hours - becks everywhere were full to bursting today - but as you can see (& I reinforced this later in the day when I visited Killington) the lake levels are low.

Out scouting potential course venues today - an excellent excuse for a drive and wander around the area - a bit of grim weather usually means that you can find some solitude - even in the areas that are usually too busy to visit - so it was with Thirlmere today when I was the only car parked at Stockhow Bridge. Pooch and I had a lovely wander - amazed to see the Bluebells still putting on quite a display - but starting to be outshone by the Foxgloves. When we got to the lake it was really quite choppy - thanks to a fellow Blipper I now know this can be paddled - so I'll have to return.

I found a few good venues - but most are run by elderly volunteers - 24 hours later only one from seven has answered my enquiry!
