Surprise Meeting of Chamoix in the Bushes
I hope you have also all had an exceptional day today. I experienced one of the most beautiful days on the hill of my life. It had snowed low down, to about 1500m, which is not usual in September and all the lines of the mountains were picked out in stark detailas you can see here on the Dents du Midi. Akemi and I were so lucky, we saw 2 golden eagles being mobbed by the mountain choughs and a herd of chamoix as we came down from the Point de Valère. This female was hiding in the bushes and so was I, I think we both got a shock to see each other so closely. There was also a small tortoiseshell butterfly which had landed on a Queen of the Alps which was surounded by snow at 2000m.
This evening it was a friend's 70th b'day party so I have not had time to comment on your journals but I look forward to doing that tomorrow - too much fresh air and champagne to do it now - hiccup and good night!
