park overuse and abuse

This photo was taken of the local park & school playgrounds. The school childern have access to the grounds till 3PM but use it for only an hour at the most. This field used to be re-planted 3x/year but would only stay green for a month at the most before bare ground was again showing. In the evening from 5-10PM, the field is occupied by hundreds of people watching and playing soccer. The grass quickly dies shortly after the sports teams resume playing on it. I am glad that the City is doing less maintance as it doesn't make sense that the City would spend so much money & time trying to keep the grass green and then allow hundreds of people to trample it to death. Sadly there is only one bathroom which means the trees, bushes and street are getting extra watering.
