Goodbye Aberdeenshire!
Hello, and welcome to my Blipfoto! I don't usually do Web 2.0 shit like this, but it seemed like a good way to keep everybody posted while simultaneously creating a record for posterity. So, here we go...
Today was my final day at home, and thankfully it was sunny! Aberdeenshire is always at its best in the sunshine - the big skies and vast exapanses of fields could almost be mistaken for the Prairies on evenings like this.
I couldn't enjoy the weather though, as I've been packing all day (last minute, as usual). I've been more excited/nervous today than I have been in a long time, and there are so many unknowns still to be addressed! Will my ropey French skills get me by for the next three months? Will the children at the school like me, or care about learning my complex and alien language? Will I be able to live without Strictly Come Dancing?
My fretting was abated temporarily during our final family meal together. We went out for Italian, and Rory joined us from his big-boy flat in town to spend one last evening around a table with me before we're all cast to the four winds. It was lovely - a fitting end to a fairly domestic summer of lie-ins and laziness.
As of next week, it's all change - early mornings, school routines and work, although lots of time off for travelling and wine-drinking as well. If I manage to stick to my plans, it shall all be documented here... but before that I have to take a plane, a tram, a train and a bus. But that's a story for another day. (Tomorrow.)
Allons-y!
