Tour of Britain - Mark Cavendish

Today my good lady wife and I took the day off to see the tour of Britain, so off we headed to Caerphilly to see the steep hill climb which is done twice. We arrived early to be able to park at the Mountain cafe where we started with a coffee. Its the first time we have been there and will defo go again, its more that a cafe, its serves gorgeous food and lovely coffee at a very reasonable price, go there, you must.

We took our places early and watched the amateurs try their hand at the climb, as they reached the top my good lady wife clapped them as i took their photo. They were very appreciative of the support and enjoyed the success of making it to the top.

Eventually, the riders arrived at the bottom of the mountain and started to make their accent. The amount of people that turned out to watch was amazing, but a right pain in the ****.

We booked our places early, but people still stand in from of you, they also moved in to the road virtually closing it off. Only the oncoming motorcycles, support cars and the cyclists themselves could part the sea of bodies in front of me. But, never to turn down a challenge, i just moved further and lower to gain a good position. At times i was very close to being hit by on coming cars, and no way were they slowing down for spectators, but i need to risk it.

It was very exciting to watch and now comes the slog of editing the images. Today i just had to blip Mark Cavendish, although he had a shocking race and the image is not very dynamic, he is after all, the current World Champion. This was my other choice of blip image.

After the race, we headed back to the cafe for a coffee and a sausage and egg sub, well i did anyway, the boss just had the coffee. We took our time, and savoured the moment and waited for the traffic to ease before heading home.
