Homeward bound
We had plenty of time to potter along the waterfront this morning (we're on the wee ship in the pic, not the big whopper!). We would have pottered into town had the water fountains - advertised as one of the main attractions of Bordeaux - been turned on. But they weren't.
The passengers who weren't leaving today (which was most of them) went off on trips to the beach, or climbing the biggest sand dune in Europe, or to a bird sanctuary. But the famous chocolate lady was coming to give a demonstration for anyone left on board. We were quite excited. But she cancelled at the last minute. :-(
When everyone came back from their morning's activities, we had lunch (including bread and butter pudding! Yum yum) then we hopped in our taxi and set off home. Most people were staying on for another three days.
A lot of sitting around at the airport, but we had 'priority boarding' - which on RyanAir isn't as good as it sounds - but it did mean first out for passport control in the UK, which was most pleasant. But what was even more pleasant - there was a chap waiting with our names, ready to whisk us home in a posh car. That was really appreciated, especially as nobody had met us when we arrived in France.
We dumped our bags and went to pick up Archie. He was pleased to see us, though not as pleased as he always is when he sees Elizabeth, but we're used to that. Christine had nibbles and G&Ts ready for us, bless her.
Archie has had a wonderful time, and has been totally spoiled with several walks every day, lots of cuddles, doggie company and chicken treats every bed time.
And we had a great time. Though I don't think I'll ever have red wine in the morning again. And it's great to be able to shove on any old clothes, without JR exclaiming, 'You're not thinking of going to breakfast like that!'
Back to real life - UK election fever.
Roll on the next holiday!
