Such a treat to get out on the water today, with the Wednesday Paddlers. We had a leisurely paddle over to Quail Island, lots of rock gardening (in and out and around and between the rocks) around the coast, and stopping for a cuppa at Summerwine Beach, on the Peninsula.

There were 6 of us today (the number 6 being appropriate for the Wideangle Wednesday challenge this month!)   Quite cold first thing, probably close to a frost, but it warmed up beautifully.

Such a gorgeous day; perfect weather and conditions. It's the first time I've been back in my kayak since that last day on the Whanganui River; today was far easier, almost benign in comparison.

I realised today that those columns in the Quail Island cliffs are basalt. It's taken me many visits to tumble to that!
