Feeling the cold

London seems to be prepared for once - all the roads and pavements are gritted. The trains are all up the spout, of course and my train was 25 minutes late, as it was yesterday, too. However, it's the first week back at work and folk are quite relaxed if we're having transport problems when getting to work.

On the way to my first reading class of the year, I saw that the Regent's canal had iced up over half its width. I had time for a quick blip before having to duck into the school gates to meet my extremely enthusiastic and loud reader. We read one book together - a book featuring mice (her choice, not mine) - then it was time to go back to work.

Lots of redundancy talk at work, which is hard to ignore. The announcement won't be this week as key people are away. Perhaps next week. We'll have to wait and see. Fingers crossed that our department won't be badly effected.
