Exuvia
Today is so wet and windy here there seems no chance of finding let alone photographing any dragonflies. So here instead is one of the exuvia I collected last week. The exuvia is the cast skin that the dragonfly sheds when it emerges as an adult. They are very delicate but you can sometimes find them still intact on marginal vegetation. This is one of the largest that I found and I believe its the exuvia of an emperor dragonfly.
Off to see the BM's Hokusai exhibition tonight courtesy of our local cinema.
